No matter where you are in your lifelong learning journey, the University of Pennsylvania has something for you.
We are excited to announce the launch of Penn’s new Online Learning Platform to kickstart that journey.
The Online Learning Platform is a hub for online learning opportunities across the university, from individual open-enrollment courses to online degrees and executive programs.
On one streamlined website, learners can find, pay for, and enroll in online courses and programs across all of Penn’s twelve schools.
According to Peter Decherney, Faculty Director of Penn’s Online Learning Initiative, the Online Learning Platform “not only supports our existing programs, it will also serve as a springboard for future academic innovation.” With this elegant platform, programs across Penn now have infrastructure needed to grow and develop new online learning offerings. In particular, Penn’s online learning portfolio will grow in the continuing education space among the professional schools.
“The Online Learning Platform,” said Provost Wendell Pritchett, “enables Penn to bring world-class teaching and learning to more people than ever before. It hosts innovative courses and programs, across our diverse range of Schools, and offers a welcoming experience to learners at every level.” Featuring fully-online degree programs, professional development and continuing education courses, and MOOCs, the Online Learning Platform has something for everyone. This is an opportunity to bring Penn to the wider community.
In addition to an easy-to-use interface, the platform also houses a powerful infrastructure that allows learners to take control of their learning journey.
With user profiles and learning history, the platform brings continuity to the journey of lifelong learning with Penn.
The creation of this platform is one step in a larger effort to bring Penn online. Rebecca Stein, Executive Director of the Online Learning Initiative aims to create an online experience with “the same sense of immediacy and community that we have here at Penn. Given that not all learners can be here physically, immersed in this wonderful environment the question becomes, ‘how can we bring this wonderful environment to them?’” Stay tuned for exciting new features in the months and years to come.
